HBCU’s may compete for up to $30K in prizes

Live event to be held October 21st during BWS inclusive, wealth building, virtual event

(BALTIMORE) – Creating generational wealth for Black people is one of the foundations of the ground-breaking, virtual Black Wealth Summit™ (BWS) being held October 20 – 22.  In keeping with that, BWS will be hosting a HBCU Business Case Competition open to any Historically Black College and University. Student teams may compete for up to $30K in prizes.

Registration for the competition is now open and the Application of Intent is due on or before Friday, September 24.  Business case submissions are due by October 13. This Business Case Competition is a precursor to the Black Wealth Summit, created to offer every Black person access to the knowledge that can be used to build real generational wealth for their families and communities. BWS offers the exposure, learning and encouragement needed to make prosperity accessible to Black people. Registration for the inaugural October summit is now open.

Teams participating in the HBCU Business Case Competition must draft an original business case study that consists of no more than 10 pages and provides an overview of a business inclusive of its mission and vision, product and service offerings, market analysis and operating model.  Teams must also share a detailed five-year revenue projection.  Winners will be judged on the quality of their idea, inclusive of the written work; viability and scalability of the business; and the marketability of their offering.  The top three (3) teams will present, and winners announced on October 21, during the BWS virtual event. For details, and to complete the Application of Intent click here. The competition is sponsored by BWS, Miro Ventures and the Robinson Family Foundation.

The BWS was created with the future in mind.  Founder Cedric Nash has a stated goal of hosting a Collegiate Wealth Summit as part of the BWS model.  “I believe that we can make a huge impact on the racial wealth gap if we are talking to 20- and 21-year-olds who have the next 40 years ahead of them to reap the benefits of years of investment compounding,”  says Nash.  We are excited to involve HBCU students in our Summit.

Confirmed speakers for October conference include John W. Rogers, Jr. Chairman, Co-CEO & Chief

Investment Officer Ariel Investments; Paul Reilly, Chief Executive Officer, Raymond James Financial; Beverly Anderson, President of Global Consumer Solutions at Equifax; David Gardner, Co-Founder and Chief Rule Breaker at The Motley Fool; Kahlil Byrd (KB), Co-Founder and CEO, Invest America;

Yolanda Daniel, National Black Bank Foundation; Omar Aguilar, Managing Director and Chief  Investment Officer, Charles Schwab; and Carla Harris, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Morgan Stanley.

Black Wealth Summit’s comprehensive curriculum is targeted to new, intermediate, seasoned and accredited investors, with exposure to a broad range of Black wealth success journeys. BWS has four areas of focus: Entrepreneurship, Securities (Stocks and Bonds), Real Estate, and Private Equity.  In addition to the evolving list of world-class speakers offering real, relatable success stories on wealth accumulation, BWS will offer customized financial coaching sessions, exclusive workshops, an opportunity for connecting to a world-class community of those invested in Black success, and unmatched resources from some of the country’s top financial firms.

Some of the country’s major financial institutions are also vested in the organization’s approach and methodology.  Morgan Stanley is a founding sponsor, and inaugural sponsors include Bank of AmericaJP Morgan Chase, Charles Schwab, Equifax, and Raymond James. These financial powerhouses will also be making their curated wealth curriculums and financial coaches available within the BWS learning framework. This strategy was important for BWS to ensure attendees are receiving authentic information, from the right perspective.

Black Wealth Summit’s first-of-its-kind conference is literally where Black affluence and potential comes to connect with wealth creating allies.  The organization pulls no punches when outlining their mission of being “unapologetically invested in the prosperity of Black people”.  Founded in the midst of 2020’s pandemic and racial reckoning, the non-profit’s namesake, inclusive wealth and financial educational experience will draw nearly 1,500 people to the October event. Registration is now open with $249 or $149 pricing for VIP and general admission respectively.

Those participating in the Black Wealth Summit this October will also leave the event with a digital workbook to begin documenting their respective roadmaps tailored to their self-declared wealth journey strategy and potential actions. To secure your place for this unprecedented event visit BWS and register today.

Complete rules for the HBCU Business Case competition are available on the BWS website.
