7 elected leaders at the city and state level came together to throw their support behind the Moore Campaign
Wes Moore for Maryland campaign unveils third major endorsement in three weeks
BALTIMORE (Sept. 27, 2021) – Seven elected leaders at the city and state level in Baltimore jointly announced their support for Wes Moore’s campaign for Maryland Governor today.
Sen. Antonio Hayes (District 40), Del. Marlon Amprey (District 40), Del. Frank Conaway, Jr. (District 40), Del. Melissa Wells (District 40), Councilmember John Bullock (District 9), Councilmember Phylicia Porter (District 10), and Councilmember James Torrence (District 7) all endorsed Moore in a video released by the campaign.
The coveted endorsements of these seven Baltimore leaders marks the third major endorsement for Wes Moore in as many weeks. On Sept. 8, Moore became the first gubernatorial candidate to be endorsed by a sitting county executive, when Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman threw his support behind the campaign. On Sept. 15, Moore, an Army veteran who led soldiers in combat in Afghanistan, received the endorsement of VoteVets, one of the top veterans advocacy organizations in the United States.
“The momentum we are building around our vision to expand work, wages, and wealth for every family in Maryland continues to grow,” Moore said. “This election is an opportunity to create generational change to address generational challenges, and I am inspired and honored to work with so many great leaders on the campaign trail and for years to come in Annapolis.”
“Wes Moore understands that a strong Maryland has to run through a strong Baltimore,” Hayes said. “I am proud to help lead the charge and bring this group together around his campaign for Governor of Maryland.”
“I’m endorsing Wes Moore for Governor because from the rural farmland in Maryland to the urban concrete, as Governor, Wes will create opportunities for everyone to thrive,” Amprey said.
“We need a Governor who will right the ship of state,” Conaway said. “Wes Moore will build a strong Baltimore and govern in a way that leaves no one behind.”
“Wes Moore understands the challenges so many families face because he’s lived them,” Wells said. “I am excited to work to get Wes elected and know he will support workers and their families and allow them to build generational wealth.”
“We need investment in transportation and people, and a Governor who will breathe new life into our communities,” Bullock said. “Wes Moore is that leader.”
“Maryland needs a governor who understands what families go through day-to-day and will bring the state together with a vision to create opportunities that are lasting for all,” Torrence said.
“As Governor, Wes Moore will bring back jobs, businesses, equitable housing, and equitable healthcare to South Baltimore, Baltimore and the Baltimore Region,” Porter said. “I’m proud to endorse him.”
In addition to VoteVets PAC and Pittman, Moore has earned the endorsements of Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando (At Large); Baltimore City Councilmembers Odette Ramos (District 14), Mark Conway (District 4), Eric Costello (District 11), and Zeke Cohen (District 1); and Chair of the Baltimore City Delegation Del. Stephanie Smith (District 45).
