Authorities are trying to identify a man whose decomposing remains were found in Birmingham more than one week ago.

The discovery was made Jan. 21.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, someone called 911 after finding the remains inside a detached storage shed on a vacant property.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said an autopsy found no evidence of trauma or foul play. The cause of death is pending additional laboratory studies.

The remains are believed to be those of a white male, age anywhere between 20 and 50. He was 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighed 161 pounds.

The man had straight brown hair and multiple tattoos including:

– Right fingers – script letter on four individual fingers: “G”, “A”, “M”, “E”

– Left fingers – script letter on four individual fingers: “O”, “V”, “E”, “R”

– Right upper arm – image of playing cards

– Right forearm – image of spade symbol with “PRONTO” script banner, script “KARMA

– Left upper arm – image of a skull

– Left forearm – Image of two dice, script “Speedy” and spade symbol with script “NO REST FOR THE WICKED” and an image of a scary clown face with top hat

– Right chest – Asian symbol

– Left chest – script “AMY”

-Back – script “Jlove” with image of a jester skull

The man was wearing a black string necklace with a metal cross pendant. He was in possession of one penny.

Anyone with information on his identity is asked to call the coroner’s office at 205-930-3603.
