As part of Homecoming Week festivities, members of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge F.& A.M. of Alabama gathered at the William Hooper Councill Memorial and Eternal Flame for the University’s Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony. The solemn ceremony pays tribute to Dr. William Hooper Councill, the founder of Alabama A&M University.

Afterwards, the Masons presented AAMU President Daniel K. Wims with a $10,000 scholarship check. The ceremony, now in its ninth year, was held at Dr. Councill’s gravesite, marking a tradition that honors both the University’s heritage and its future.

Corey D. Hawkins, Sr.,an alumnus, attorney, and the Most Worshipful Grandmaster of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge F.& A.M. of Alabama, delivered keynote remarks. His words reflected on the lasting legacy of Dr. Councill and the Masons’ commitment to supporting higher education.
