NEW ORLEANS, La.- Madalena Andrade won at No. 3 singles to seal a 4-3 win for Alabama State over Florida A&M in the SWAC Women’s Tennis Championship on Sunday here at the Pepsi Center.

The Alabama State men’s tennis team also prevailed defeating Jackson State 4-0 to win its third straight Men’s Tennis Championship.

For the men, not only was it the third title in a row for the Hornets, it marked the sixth SWAC title in seven years.

The Lady Hornets claimed their seventh SWAC title and their first since 2021. Sahra Bouchaala was named the SWAC Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Andrade and Bea Acena.

Florida A&M swept the doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles. Bouchaala, Carmelle, and Acena captured wins as No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 to tie the match at 3-3.

Andrade won 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the match.

David Grandinot and Sam Bajracharya won at No. 1 doubles and Lun Obrul and Matteo Latastet won at No. 3 doubles to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead.
