A bus driver for Madison City Schools was arrested Friday on allegations she engaged in a sex act with a student under 19 years old, authorities said.
Azaria Ashford, 24, of Huntsville, was charged with one count of school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19, according to Madison police.
Madison City Schools issued this statement following Ashford’s arrest:
“Madison City Schools received information on February 11th that an MCS bus driver had exchanged inappropriate messages with several students. The employee was promptly placed on administrative leave, and the Madison Police Department was informed of the allegations. The police department conducted an investigation, resulting in an arrest today. This individual is no longer employed by Madison City Schools. Any questions concerning the investigation or the arrest should be directed to the Madison Police Department.”
shford was booked into the Madison County jail pending bond, police said.
Ashford’s booking was not in jail records as of late Friday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
