Benard Simelton, President of the Alabama NAACP

The Alabama NAACP and other social justice organizations plan to participate in Advocacy Day, at the Alabama State House, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 10 a.m., to voice our concerns to Alabama legislators.  “We want Alabamians to know that we will continue to fight for ALL of you and we want the Alabama legislature and Governor Kay Ivey to never count us out,” said Benard Simelton, President of the Alabama NAACP. “Alabamians are important to us, which is why we will continue to fight against the Alabama SB1 Bill which aims to criminalize those assisting with absentee voting, Immigration bans, ICE raids against black and brown people, banning Black history month, signing executive orders to eliminate DEI, are all issues we plan to fight.
