The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP is basking in excitement with its’ 72nd Annual State
Convention, from Wednesday, September 26th – Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at the Holiday Inn Research Park, in Huntsville, AL.
The press conference will begin promptly at 10:00, Wednesday, September 26th, 2024, in room 101.
Some amazing speakers who will be joining us at this year’s convention include Dr. Everett Kelley,
National President of American Federation of Government Employees, who will be the guest speaker at theWorkers & Human Rights Breakfast, as well as Alabama State Representative, Anthony Daniels, who will be the guest speaker at the Power of the Vote Luncheon.
“We are excited about this year’s convention as it highlights many issues our community is facing,”
said Benard Simelton, president of the Alabama NAACP.
Dr. Candice Matthews, with the National Ministers of Politics for the Black Panther Nation, will be
the guest speaker for the AYCD Banquet, our very own Patricia Evans, the Alabama NAACP’s
Communications Chair and Celsa Stallworth, with the Southern Poverty Law Center will moderate the Black and Brown Coalition Panel Discussion. And Rev. Dion James Watkins, Pastor of Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church will be the keynote speaker at the Freedom Awards Banquet, Saturday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m.
