A Dothan man is being held on $1.5 million bond in the death of his daughter, who was reported missing in 2021 and whose skeletal remains were found earlier this year.
Police on Monday released additional information about the arrest of 64-year-old Orlando Williams. He is charged with murder in the slaying of 38-year-old Tomekia Tiffany Williams.
Tomekia Williams was reported missing to Dothan police in March 2021. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida, but was last known to be in Dothan.
Authorities said all leads were exhausted in the investigation of her disappearance at that time.
On Feb. 9, 2022, skeletal remains were found in in the 2000 block of Johntown Road in Ozark. Believing those remains could possibly be Tomekia Williams, police said, DNA testing was completed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, confirming it was her.
Investigators then spoke with Orlando Williams, since he was the last person believed to have been with his daughter.
During the investigation, authorities said Monday, detectives learned that after the death of Tomekia Williams, her father drove around with her body in his vehicle before dumping her body in the wooded area in Ozark.
Police have not said how or why Tomekia Williams was killed.
In addition to the murder charge out of Dothan, Orlando Williams is also expected to face additional charges in Ozark.
