The Alabama Democrat ic Conference’s Madison County Unit, led by Eddie C. Sherrod, held its annual Membership Breakfast Program on Saturday, February 10. This year’s theme, “Let’s Finish the Job:
Protect our Democracy in 2024,” set the tone for a morning of reflection and action.
Lorraine Parham (Retired Contracts Director, DCMA) gracefully presided over the event as the Mistress of Ceremony. The program commenced with Reginald Pearson leading the Black National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing, followed by an invocation delivered by Reverend Claudwell Campbell (Chaplain, Madison County ADC).
The audience was honored by greetings from Reverend Dr. Randy B. Kelly (Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party), and The Honorable Tommy Battle (Mayor of Huntsville, AL). Eddgra Fallin provided insights into the significance of the occasion. Subsequently, Martha Lynn Sherrod (SDEC member), acknowledged event contributors, political candidates, elected officials, ADC units, and Steven Perkins’s family. A moment of solemn remembrance, the Necrology, was presented by Reverend Claudwell Campbell and Bonita Gill.
Eddie C. Sherrod (Chairman of the Madison County ADC) introduced the keynote speaker, the Honorable Steven L. Reed (Mayor of Montgomery, AL), whose impactful message stirred thought and a call for action. Following Mayor Reed’s speech, Zoie Roberson (Chair of the Youth Caucus, MCDEC) issued a challenge to mobilize more youth for upcoming elections.
Jimmie Payne (Glenn Pippen) presented a special presentation before Eddie C. Sherrod concluded the program with closing remarks. Reverend Claudwell Campbell led the audience in the Benediction, marking the conclusion of a meaningful and profound event.
