Jameela Barrett and Alabama A&M women’s soccer have been picked to finish third according to the Southwestern Athletic Con- ference (SWAC) Preseason Poll.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off of a Fall 2021 season that saw Alabama A&M women’s soccer deliver a historic season, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has released its Fall 2022 Preseason Poll.

The Bulldogs have been picked to finish third behind tournament runner-up Grambling (138/two First Place Votes) and defending champion Prairie View (132 Points/1 Vote). They garnered 129 points with three first place votes with Alabama State (127/1) and Jackson State (124) rounding out the top five.

The back half of the poll consists of Southern (96/2), Texas Southern (84), Alcorn State (73/2), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (51) and Mississippi Valley State (38).

A&M returns nearly the full squad from the previous fall, including all three All- SWAC honorees, each of whom has garnered preseason honors this week. They include for- ward Makayla Rushing (Red Oak, Texas) and junior defender Taylor Watson (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) who both earned First-Team honors. Sherice Clarke (St.Catherine, Jamaica) was named to the All- SWAC Second-Team alongside junior for- ward Jameela Barrett (London, England) and senior defender Tateyana Pitter (Kingston, Jamaica).

Alabama A&M will put those expectations right away as they open the season against Charleston on Thursday, August 18 in Charleston, South Carolina.
