HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Samaurya Mahone and Bailey Duckett each recorded nine kills as the Alabama A&M University volleyball team celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of Mississippi Valley State, 3-0, in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium on Sunday.

Alabama A&M (12- 18 overall, 11-5 SWAC)claimed the match with scores 25-12, 25-13, 25- 16.

The Bulldogs finished with 41 kills in 84 total attacks, 42 digs, 37 assists and six solo blocks.

Mahone and Duckett carried the offense in the three-set win as Alabama A&M prepares for this week’s 2023 SWAC Volleyball Tournament, which begins on Friday at Prairie View A&M University. Mackenzie Jefferson and Grace Tapscott dished out a team-high 13 assists each, while Michell Jerez tallied eight digs, defensively. Caitlin Shaw led AAMU with four blocks in the contest.

Mississippi Valley State (4-24, 0-16) finished with 22 kills in 95 total attacks, 28 assists, 28 digs and one solo block.

Seerdyn James paced the Delta Devils offense by recording eight kills. Mikayla Lee handed out a match-high 20 assists, along with a solo block. Defensively, Michayla Black added eight digs.

Alabama A&M will enter the SWAC Volleyball Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will meet a familiar foe in Jackson State, the No. 5 seed, in the quarterfinals on Friday at the William J. Nicks Building. The Bulldogs swept the regular season matchup, defeat- ing JSU, 3-1 (Oct. 13) and 3-2 (Nov. 10).
