Alabama’s Triston Harper advanced to the Top Five of “American Idol” on the Sunday show. Triston will perform again next Sunday at 7 p.m. on ABC.

The Top Seven performance tested Triston’s ability to sing outside his natural country genre. It was “Adele Night,” with each contestant selecting one Adele song. Harper sang “Easy On Me.”

Each contestant also sang a “Song that Makes Me Wanna Dance.” Triston sang “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” by Travis Tritt.  And dance he did. He has gotten more animated as the contest continues.

Two contestants were eliminated, creating the Top Five for next Sunday’s episode.

The Top Seven – the five who advanced and the two eliminated – can be found here.

Viewers continue to marvel that Triston’s voice is that of a 15-year-old—such a deep and mature-sounding voice.

In the upcoming Sunday episode, it is vital that Alabama folks not only watch their “Native American Son” but also cast their votes for Harper. Instructions on how and when to vote are given on the broadcast.

Each viewer can vote 30 times – 10 in each of three ways. Text, American Idol app and here.

Triston, raised in the small town of McIntosh, is a Choctaw Indian. There is an extended village of Choctaws in and around McIntosh, the MOWA Tribe.

McIntosh is in southwest Alabama, about 75 miles north of Mobile. He attends LeRoy High School and is the youngest Idol contestant this season.
