In a display of exceptional ingenuity, electrical engineering and computer science students at AAMU clinched $10,000 in cash prizes in the BAE Think Tank Paper Competition. Sponsored by BAE Systems, a global leader in defense, security, and aerospace, the white paper competition attracted talented minds from AAMU to tackle critical analysis and propose solutions to complex industry challenges.
The BAE Think Tank Paper Competition serves as a platform for aspiring scholars to delve into pressing issues and present their insights through comprehensive research papers. Covering diverse topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, sustainable tech- nology, and global security, the competition promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and encourages participants to think innovatively in addressing real-world problems.
Dr. Padmaja Guggilla, Associate Dean of Student Success for CETPS and Chairperson of the Department of Physics, Chemistry,and Mathematics at AAMU, has been spearheading this event since 2022.
“The success of our students is a testament to the quality of education and the culture of excellence that defines our institution,” says Guggilla. “It reflects the dedication and com- mitment of our faculty members in nurturing talent, fostering critical thinking, and empower- ing students to make meaningful contributions to society.”
Winning students include Oluwatimilehin Oyediran (1st Place), Opeyeoluwa Olanipekun, Shanice Gray, and Mbetwa Shemaiah (2nd Place), Angela Davis and Chasity Harris (3rd Place), and Olasubomi Olawepo (4th Place).
