Farrar Appointed to AICPA Committee

Dr. Felicia Farrar, CPA, CFE, has been appointed to serve on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Academic Executive Committee for 2024 -2025. The AICPA is a non-profit professional organization representing certified public accountants (CPAs) in the United States. The organization is integral to rule-making and standard-setting in the CPA profession and advocates for legislative bodies and public interest groups.

Farrar, an Associate Accounting Professor and Accounting Program Coordinator at AAMU for two years, is among 14 members of the Academic Executive Committee.

“The Academic Executive Committee provides a bridge between accounting professionals and academics to attract and engage a community of diverse and well-prepared future accounting professionals,” says Farrar. “I look forward to providing insight from the perspective of an HBCU.”

The Cleveland native has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kent State University, a master’s degree from Texas Woman University, and a doctorate in Accounting from Oklahoma State University.

She says the AICPA executive committees are the parent group responsible for policy-setting. The Academic Executive Committee works to improve accounting academics, student recruitment and retention, and to create strategic alliances and initiatives to better serve the accounting education community.

“I enjoy bringing accounting to real life for my students and providing them access to professionals and mentors in the accounting industry,” says Farrar. “This role will help me develop new ways to assist Alabama A&M students.”
