A central Alabama sheriff was arrested after he allegedly threatened county commissioners and disrupted a commission meeting.
The arrest of Lowndes County Sheriff Christopher West stemmed from an argument West had with Lowndes County Commissioner Robert Harris over a plan to relocate sheriff’s office investigators to the former town hall in Hayneville, Harris told WSFA in a story published Thursday.
Harris accused the sheriff of threatening the commissioners as they were voting on the proposal and disrupting the tally at the June 24 meeting.
Harris signed a warrant charging West with misdemeanor harassment and obstructing government operations, WSFA reported.
West turned himself in to the county jail on Aug. 29, Hayneville Police Chief told the station.
