A Huntsville man has been released from the Madison County Jail on bond after his arrest on charges of rape and sodomy of a child under the age of 12.
According to jail records, Thomas Franklin Schmeltz, 70, was arrested Tuesday.
He was released on $125,000 bond later that day.
Schmeltz has been charged with first degree rape of a victim under the age of 12, first degree sodomy, and first degree sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
According to court documents, the abuse took place between 2013 and 2023.
