Holders of many military and veteran license plates, including the Vietnam Veteran design, will receive new metal plates but with the same design.ALabama Department of Revenue

The new year will bring a host of new license plates to Alabama.

Starting Jan. 1, 2024, new license plates will be available for Air Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Space Force, Children’s of Alabama and Brain Cancer Research.

Images for the new tags haven’t been released.

The Air Medal license plate will be available only to recipients of that honor. Created in 1942, the medal is awarded for meritorious achievements while participating in an aerial flight. Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. military’s campaign against ISIS, is available to military veterans of that conflict. Plates for the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Space Force had been added to the list of service branches available for a military tag. The new Marine tag will replace the current one.

Children’s of Alabama and Brain Cancer Research plates will also be available, according to the Alabama Department of Revenue.
