Madison appears poised to swing for the fences on upgrades to Toyota Field.
Faced with a need to bring the facility into compliance with Major League Baseball standards, city councilors delayed a decision last month to pursue a plan to fund up to $30 million in improvements to the home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the double-A affiliate of Los Angeles Angels.
Yet after weighing a new, smaller-scale option that involved repurposing an existing building – with a price tag of about $4 million – during a work session Monday, a majority of members voiced support for the original plan. That plan also has the support of team owner Ballcorp LLC.
