A second suspect has been charged in the shooting death of a Montgomery woman who was killed in front of her young daughter.

Denzel Donald-White, 21, is charged with capital murder and attempted murder, police announced Monday.

He is charged in the May 26 slaying of 40-year-old Shayla Jones. The charge is capital, according to court records, because Jones was killed in the presence of her daughter who is under the age of 14.

The suspect was taken into custody Friday by Montgomery police the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Previously arrested was 20-year-old Jaquerrius Jordan.

Both suspects are being held without bond. A motive has not been disclosed.

Police and fire medics were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. that Sunday to a report of a person shot in the 900 block of South Union Street.

Jones was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A second woman sustained a non-life-threatening injury. She, too, was hospitalized, said Maj. Saba Coleman.
