The Huntsville Beautification Board held is 2023 awards ceremony on Friday, September 1, 2023, 9:00 a.m. The event was held at Oakwood University’s Community Health Action Center. Each year the Board recognizes residents and businesses for their effort to keep the city of Huntsville beautiful. Over 300 residents and businesses were given beautification awards. Special awards were presented to the following:
Mayor’s Award: Lincoln Mill
District 1: First Missionary Baptist Church
District 2: Fleming Farms Senior Living
District 3: Redstone Federal Credit Union (Weatherly Road location)
District 4: First United Methodist Church
District 5: Farmers Market Oakwood
Beautification Board Special Recognition: Bernice Burnet
Green Team Special Recognition: Polaris
Who is eligible for Huntsville Beautification Awards?
City of Huntsville-licensed commercial, business or government properties within the city limits. To qualify, the entity must be at least 1 year old. Properties that currently have an award must reapply each year.
What are the judging criteria?
Everything from the curb will be judged on first impressions, originality, distinction, design, quality of plants (trees, shrubs, flowers, ground cover, grass), maintenance, hardscape design and litter control.
How do I submit a property for consideration?
To get started, download and complete the entry form. Professional landscapers must complete an entry form for each property submitted; lists of properties will not be accepted. A copy of a 2023 business license is also required. Only one copy of the license per landscaper is needed.
Mail the completed entry form and fee to Huntsville Beautification Board, P.O. Box 738, Huntsville, AL 35804. Make checks payable to the Huntsville Beautification Board.
