A Georgia teen was killed, and a child injured, in an ATV crash Friday afternoon in an east Alabama.

The wreck happened at 2:25 p.m. on Cherokee County 102, about two miles north of Cedar Bluff in Cherokee County.

Senior Alabama State Trooper Brandon Bailey said the 14-year-old was driving a Mahindra ATV that left the road, traveled up a guy wire and overturned.

The teen was ejected and pronounced dead a short time later at an area hospital. An 8-year-old passenger was hospitalized.

Neither child was using a seat belt, Bailey said.

The investigation is ongoing. Troopers do not release the names of juvenile traffic fatality victims.
