In a significant event last weekend, a substantial gathering of inmates at the Marshall County Jail underwent a baptism ceremony, We have learned.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 133 male and female inmates actively participated in the baptism, which took place in the Sally Port of the jail during the service held on June 24.

The number of baptisms approached the total number of incarcerated individuals, as the current inmate population stands at 332.

The baptismal services were made possible through the efforts of Compassion City Church and local church members involved in the jail ministry.

Additionally, the jail ministry holds regular services for inmates every Tuesday and Thursday.

Both the jail staff and the jail ministry team collaborated for approximately a month to prepare for this special day of baptisms.

The successful execution of this meaningful event demonstrates the commitment to spiritual support and opportunities for personal growth within the inmate community, according to WAFF.
