Nearly a dozen men were arrested on a combined 37 felony crimes in a two-day law enforcement operation aimed at child predators.

The Dothan Police Department, in a joint effort with Covenant Rescue Group, carried out the initiative Thursday and Friday.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division and Covenant Rescue Group had online chats with people looking for illicit sexual activities, said Lt. Scott Owens.

Covenant Rescue Group is an organization that supports law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of child exploitation/human trafficking cases at both the state and federal levels.

During the operation, several conversations took place, which led to suspects attempting to meet the underage juveniles for the purpose of unlawful sexual contact. In all, eleven men agreed to meet.

The suspects were taken into custody once they arrived at the undisclosed location in Dothan.

Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Service and the district attorney’s offices in Houston and Henry counties assisted.

Owens said more charges are pending.
