The Robert “Bob” HarrisonSenior Wellness and Advocacy Center, located in MadisonCounty District Six, celebrated ten years of serving the senior residents of northwest Huntsville and the surrounding area.

The celebration started onThursday, May 12, 2022, at1:00 p.m. and concluded on Saturday, May 14, 2022; the theme for the event was “StayStrong, Live Long.” Thursday was the kickoff for the celebration, which started at 10:00a.m.

Mr. Denver Betts served as the Master of Ceremony. Those on the program included Ms.Brenda Gurley, the first Director of the Bob Harrison Center, who spoke on the beginning days of the center, and Mr.Bryan Primm, the present Director of the Bob Harrison. He spoke about the present-day operations at the center.

Madison County District Six Commissioner Violet Edwards greeted the attendees and recognized the state, county, and city officials who were on hand and other officials and guests. Special guests in attendance were Mrs. Izora Harrison, widow of the late CommissionerRobert ‘Bob’ Harrison, and Mrs. Lynda Harrison Gaines, daughter of the late Commissioner Harrison

Commissioner Edwards included in her remarks the unveiling of three artist renderings of a retaining wall to be built at the Pulaski Pike entrance to the Bob Harrison Center.

Friday events started at 5:00 p.m. and included bingo, card games, Family Feud, and fellowship- ping with one another hosted by Humana. The three-day concluded on Saturday, May 14, 2022, with outdoor activities from 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. Guests included The Redeemed Christian Church of God, First Class Corvette Club of Madison, Low Profile Car Club of Huntsville, The Untouchables Corvette Club of Huntsville, Huntsville Community Drumline, Tommy Friend (Saxophonist), Will Jazzanova and Band, H-Town Line Dancers, moon bounce various vendors and food trucks.
