Facebook Video Metrics: In case you missed it, Facebook on March 24, announced that it is adding daily metrics about how much people watch posted videos. According to Editor & Publisher, “Video publishers can find out how many minutes a video was viewed on a given day, the number of video views for a single day, and the number of times a video was viewed for 10 seconds on one day… .” The daily metrics are in the Facebook video library and in “Page Insights.”
Newspaper Publishers Form Ad Network on Digital Platform: An April 14 article in The Wall Street Journal, stated that four major U.S. newspaper groups are teaming up to create a national advertising network that will focus on emerging digital platforms. The article names Tribune Publishing Co., Gannett, McClatchy and the Hearst newspaper group, which have formed Nucleus Marketing Solutions. The group intends to “leverage their geographic reach and combined scale to help marketers more effectively target their ads.”
Gannett Foundation and National Association of Black Journalists: NABJ is seeking applicants for its Gannett Foundation Al Neuharth Award for Innovation in investigative journalism. The $5,000 award “recognizes groundbreaking journalists in their quest to help communities understand and address important issues through creativity and the use of digital tools.” Application deadline is Friday, May 6.
